HD Radio Coming to Ford Hybrids

Digital radio technology is part of Sony Audio System

Ford said it will offer HD Radio on the new C-MAX Hybrid and C-MAX Energi Plug-in Hybrid coming to dealerships in mid-2012.

HD Radio technology will be included in the Sony Audio system (PDF) with MyFord Touch.

The C-MAX hybrids will be Ford’s first dedicated hybrid vehicle line and the first multi-activity vehicle line in North America, according to the automaker.

Scheduled to start hitting showroom floors in the second half of 2012, the C-MAX hybrids will be built at Ford’s Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, Mich., with production powered in part by a solar energy generator system.

Digital radio is or will be available as a factory installed feature on 22 car brands, according to iBiquity Digital.
