HD Radio Shown at Auto Show; Beasley Adds Multicast Station in Vegas

Beasley continues its strategy of activating multicast stations. It has added an HD2 channel to its KSTJ(FM) in Las Vegas.
The new program feed is marketed as “Star Party 102.7” and is being featured this week in demonstrations at the SEMA automotive specialty products convention. Star Party 102.7 is being featured on Kenwood HD receivers that will be installed in 10 vehicles by a magazine that covers the urban automotive market. HD Radio is also being featured at booths of Kenwood, Eclipse and Dice Electronics.
The station calls its additional format a “commercial-free, subscription-free, all-music channel broadcasting 24 hours a day (that) features an upbeat club mix of dance and urban 80’s music.”
Here’s how Beasley describes the service in its press release:
“The new station can be accessed with an HD Radio receiver by setting the tuner to ‘102.7 – HD2.’ Listeners who haven’t purchased a receiver yet will soon be able to sample the new sound from the Star 102.7 web site … Once a listener has obtained an HD Radio receiver, Star Party 102.7 – like other HD Radio offerings – are free of subscription fees.”
