HD Radio Spotlight Shines on Robert Earl Keen

Artist inks deal with BMI, iBiquity

Robert Earl Keen will be the next musician featured in the “HD Radio Artist Spotlight” program.

IBiquity says its partnership with the artist will build awareness of HD Radio and promote Kean’s new album, “Happy Prisoner.” The program includes radio promotions, contests and a trip for two to Nashville to join Keen at his July 23 concert.

The HD Radio Artist Spotlight enters its second year, supporting artists like Charlie Worsham, Ashley Monroe, Due West, John Pardi, Muddy Magnolias, George Ducas and Toby Lightman.

The new music initiative was created to help support up-and-coming artists and grow established acts by supporting tours, connecting them with local HD Radio stations and creating new experiences for fans. Their music is aired on stations’ HD2/HD3 channels.

BMI Executive Director Strategic Partnerships/Business Development Mason Hunter describes Keen as a “stalwart” for BMI who’s been consistently releasing music for three decades. The HD Radio experience “delivers digital quality sound, unique content and exposure to artists like Robert in order to enhance” the listener experience, a release said.

Kean signed the deal with iBiquity at the 2015 Key West Songwriter’s Festival.
