A media blitz has begun in 28 markets for HD2 channels. Samples are here, scroll down to the MP3 files.
The first wave of spots – 16 ads in 30- and 15-second versions – reinforce that HD digital radio is free and doesn’t require a subscription fee.
The HD Digital Radio Alliance is behind the ads, which it says constitute the first phase of a larger campaign. Alliance member radio groups say they have committed ad time worth $200 million to the effort. Some 250 stations will air the ads, developed by Dick Orkin and the Radio Ranch. A quarter of the ads highlight the first tabletop IBOC unit, the Boston Acoustics Receptor Radio HD.
Alliance President/CEO Peter Ferrara said the campaign is going faster than expected and he called the response from receiver manufacturers, retailers and automakers encouraging.
