China’s BYD Adopts DTS AutoStage

Xperi says the carmaker will adopt it as its exclusive media platform

Xperi has secured a partnership with China-based BYD.

The manufacturer of electric and hybrid vehicles has adopted DTS AutoStage as its “exclusive” in‑car media platform.

BYD vehicles are sold in Europe, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa.

It said BYD plans to launch DTS AutoStage in the fourth quarter of this year if not sooner.

“With this agreement, BYD becomes the 14th major automaker to adopt DTS AutoStage. The platform currently reaches more than 16 million vehicles across over 150 countries worldwide,” Xperi said.

In the announcement, Chris Lang, general manager of the greater China region at Xperi, was quoted: “China’s automotive industry is moving rapidly from global export scale to global experience leadership.”

It noted that DTS AutoStage is a hybrid platform that combines broadcast radio, IP‑delivered audio service and video entertainment in vehicles. It also provides consumer analytics back to content providers.
