The Towe Auto Museum in Sacramento, Calif., is hosting a theatre organ concert on its restored three-manual Wurlitzer on June 24.

Mic manufacturer, ham operator and theatre organist Bob Heil will perform.

Heil says he is to be reunited with “this gorgeous instrument.” It was installed in the St. Louis Lowe’s State Theatre during the late 1920s; in 1958, it was removed to Rugerri’s restaurant in St. Louis where a young Heil played it for diners.

The organ was later taken to Sacramento, where pipes from the Hollywood home of Cecil B. DeMille were added to it.

Heil also will introduce his latest CD at the concert. “Bob Heil at Home” was recorded on a three-manual theatre organ in his Illinois home studio.

The Sierra Chapter of the American Theatre Organ Society is sponsoring the event. Admission is free with a museum admission.
