Southwest Florida’s WJPT(FM), Sunny 106, has announced “Heroes Across the Land,” an original, one-hour radio show produced in time for Memorial Day.
The program was created by Randy Sherwyn, program director of Beasley Broadcast, which owns Sunny 106, and Sherwyn’s Christmas Across the Lands production company. It will feature stories and traditions related to Memorial Day, as well as classic and patriotic songs from Kate Smith, Billy Ray Cyrus & Craig Morgan, Ray Charles and a custom theme song written by Sherwyn.
“After discussing the idea with AFN-Radio Director Jef Reilly, I put this one-hour show together using pieces of history, stirring patriotic songs and vet’s opinions,” said Sherwyn in a press release. “It’s all about appreciating the sacrifices of the brave men and women who lost their lives for us. I know if my father, a WWII combat veteran, were alive today he’d be very proud.”
“Heroes Across the Land” will air on Memorial Day in select markets and in approximately 177 countries via the Armed Forces Radio Network.
