Hilmer Swanson, a long-time engineer noted for his work in AM, has died at a nursing home near Quincy, Ill. He was 72.
His funeral is set for Wednesday July 27.
In 1990, Swanson was an NAB Engineering Achievement Award winner. At that time he was a senior staff scientist for Harris Broadcast.
One of his last works was a paper, “Performance of Modern AM Modulation Methods for Linear Digital Broadcast Applications,” co-authored with John DeLay.
Friend and colleague Geoff Mendenhall said the visitation is Tuesday evening.
