Religious station KFUO(AM) has begun broadcasting in HD Radio. Ibiquity Digital said this is the first facility in Missouri to make the digital transition. It is using equipment from Broadcast Electronics.
“HD Radio will allow us to maintain our high standards for audio quality, assuring that we can provide our listeners the best broadcasts possible,” stated Dennis Stortz, director of broadcast at KFUO, based in Clayton, Mo., and trasmitting at 850 kHz.
KFUO is owned and operated by The Lutheran Church — Missouri Synod, which counts 2.6 million member in 6,145 congregations. According to its founders, KFUO is the oldest religious radio station worldwide, beginning broadcasting in 1924.
