The 52nd Annual Broadcast Symposium, taking place from Oct. 9-11, will be held at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Northwest Washington. The venue has historical significance because the main ballroom of the hotel was the home of broadcasts over the Mutual Broadcasting System in the 1930s.
“Embracing new broadcast technologies” is the theme of this year’s symposium. A tutorial specifically for radio broadcast engineers will focus in HD radio technology developed by Ibiquity Digital Corp. Topics will include transmission system design, FM and AM HD radio transmission plant design, select topics in implementation, HD radio data broadcasting standards and NRSC evaluation of HD radio. In addition to tutorials and engineering sessions, two luncheons and a cocktail reception are planned. For more information, go to www.ieee.org/btsymposium on the World Wide Web.
