Hot FM Gets Four Studer OnAir 1500s

Malaysian broadcaster likes features and costs

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia-based Hot FM — part of Media Prima subsidiary, Synchrosound Studio Sdn Bhd — has recently opened two new regional studios in the states of Kelantan and Terengganu.

The new studios are equipped with four Harman Studer OnAir 1500 digital mixing consoles, supplied by local Studer and Harman distributor, Mahajak Trio Electronic Sdn Bhd. Each facility features one main and one backup studio using the Studer OnAir 1500 12-fader console.

Media Prima said the broadcaster required a console that was reliable, well-supported locally, fully-featured and flexible enough to meet its workflow needs. But at the same time Media Prima noted that they needed a console to fit within the budget; the Studer OnAir 1500 console passed the challenge.

As an integral part of the Hot FM daily news and music programming operation, the four OnAir 1500s permit Hot FM to take network feeds from the National Broadcast Center in Bandar Utama and also go live in the studios to produce local programs for the regional states. The desks, which are configured primarily as “on-air” consoles, are also suitable for recording and automation program voice-tracking.
