How D’ya Do, Your Majesty?

APT receives Queen’s Award business recognition at Buckingham Palace.

Two executives of manufacturer APT got the royal treatment recently after their company won the prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade.

CFO Mark Weir and Marketing Manager Gillian Wylie were invited to Buckingham Palace to receive the award; they’re shown meeting Queen Elizabeth II.

CEO Noel McKenna said the award was in recognition of the company’s average annual growth of around 50% in 2005 and 2006 in export sales.

The company was formed in 1989 as a spin-off from Queen’s University Belfast. McKenna and Commercial Director Jon McClintock completed a management buyout in 2005. APT is based in West Belfast.

“Our corporate strategy of proactively seeking out and exploiting business opportunities throughout Europe, North America and the Far East has been rewarded with significant growth in international sales,” McKenna stated.
