As IBC2015 gets closer, we continue our series of short Q&As with manufacturers about their plans and offerings, to help you get the most out of the annual trade show. Todor Ivanov is CEO of Bulgarian-company DEVA Broadcast.
Todor Ivanov is CEO of DEVA BroadcastRadio World: How has business been for the company since last year’s IBC Show?
Todor Ivanov: Our business continues to expand with an impressive track of achievements. We continuously form new partnerships, advance to larger and strategic markets, extend our coverage and influence. DEVA attends the main industry exhibitions and this helps consolidate our position as an active participant and key figure on the broadcast scene.
RW: What do you anticipate will be the most significant technology trend at the IBC2015 Show?
Ivanov: Digital Radio and IP audio are still the prevailing tendencies that have retained customer interest in recent years and influenced the industry to date. These technologies will presumably do so in the years to come.
RW: What new products will your company be showing?
Ivanov: DEVA is about to unveil a number of advanced solutions, which have been developed in direct response to our clients’ needs and the upsurge of interest in IP audio technology. We have developed some very competitive FM monitoring and rebroadcasting gear, too. The first versions of the devices that we will showcase at IBC2015 are based on customer feedback and their requests for specific features.
RW: Why should attendees visit your booth?
Ivanov: DEVA offers advanced solutions for a vast range of professional broadcasting applications. The hallmark characteristics of our products are high operational performance and reliability, at low cost of ownership. We unveil new technology each year to enhance our customers’ reputation and to guarantee their competitiveness. And, as I said above, we will once again be launching a number of new, innovative products at this year’s show.
RW: The Internet has changed the way people do business. Some would say that it has rendered shows such as the IBC obsolete. Is this true?
Ivanov: Although the Internet has influenced business and the very mechanisms of it, meeting at IBC and other trade shows remains the ideal way to generate sales leads, raise corporate profiles and develop efficient distribution channels. Furthermore, hands-on exposure, live demonstrations and direct client feedback are of unique value.
RW: You’re a show veteran, what’s your favorite thing about the show?
Ivanov: Presenting our latest technologies and product releases in front of an audience of connoisseurs is the merit that we value the most. We also enjoy meeting like-minded colleagues, industry experts and top influencers.
RW: How has IP technology affected you?
Ivanov: Our company has a very established position in the FM monitoring, rebroadcasting and RDS/RBDS fields. IP technology, however, has played a significant role in making our brand even more popular with broadcasters. Streaming audio over IP has increasingly penetrated the market and an IP network operates as a platform for content delivery and interoperability between products. We have implemented IP technology in DEVA products and are receiving positive reactions from industry professionals.
How has social media affected you?
Social media is a complementary way of promoting our brand and generating sales. At the base, however is our solid foundation both in terms of DEVA corporate culture and DEVA technology, and this overall company strategy allows us to constantly move forward in a constructive way.
