Ibiquity: HD Radio Capacity in Asia Has Doubled

Ahead of the Autumn Hong Kong Electronics Fair, Ibiquity Digital announced that increased demand for receivers “has resulted in a doubling of partner manufacturing capacity in Asia during the past year.”

HD Radio manufacturing capacity in Asia has doubled in the past year, Ibiquity Digital says, with several new modules and components available to support advanced HD Radio features such as iTunes Tagging.

Timing its announcement to the opening of the Autumn Hong Kong Electronics Fair, the company said increased demand for receivers “has resulted in a doubling of partner manufacturing capacity in Asia during the past year. Nearly 60 companies are licensed and certified to manufacture HD Radio modules, components, receivers and tuners.”

It also lists several developments in new modules and reference designs.

Ibiquity is offering a Reference Kit to support receiver/iPod docking products with iTunes Tagging for HD Radio technology; LG Innotek is offering an HD Radio module that supports conditional access, store and replay as well as iTunes tagging capabilities; and Samsung EM is offering a module that the company says offers a quick path to market for product manufacturers.
