Ibiquity, Traffic.com Extend Exploratory Pact

The satellite radio companies have on-demand traffic and weather services, and Ibiquity is working with Traffic.com to make sure terrestrial stations upgrading to digital have a similar service.
Ibiquity and Traffic.com, which collects and reports traffic data, are extending a testing and marketing agreement.
Some 440 broadcasters are on the air with HD Radio, according to Ibiquity, which also said 60% of Americans now have access to HD Radio programming.
Traffic.com COO Chris Rothey stated, “We are working to distribute Traffic.com’s solutions across all broadcast platforms and see opportunity in the digital wireless delivery of our flexible, real-time traffic data technology and content via AM/FM HD Radio datacasting.”
Traffic.com counts among its radio customers XM, Cox Radio, Bonneville and Emmis Communications.
