IBOC has reached the Philippines.
President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo officiated HD Radio broadcasts in Baguio City on Nov. 9, according to Broadcast Electronics, which said it installed its IBOC gear under a special license from the government during a broadcasters’ convention. An FXi 60 digital FM exciter is transmitting the digital/analog signals, the supplier said.
Arroyo gave the keynote speech and listened to HD Radio broadcasts at a BE in-vehicle demonstration.
Since September, BE has completed HD Radio installations in New Zealand, Thailand and Brazil, and announced it will begin HD Radio transmissions in Switzerland.
