IBOC Will Be Hot

Numerous NAB sessions will focus on the rollout of in-band, on-channel digital radio in the United States.
The NRSC standards organization has already endorsed an FM system from Ibiquity Digital Corp., and the NRSC will be meeting this weekend to discuss the next step for an AM system and other concerns.
Likely among them: reports that the NRSC was not satisfied with the performance of IBOC for AM stations at night, and planned to limit IBOC for AM to daytime hours.
The Broadcast Engineering Conference of the NAB includes several in-depth sessions about implementing IBOC and about DAB overseas.
Three manufacturers are licensed by Ibiquity Digital to sell its transmission technology to radio stations, and are expected to tout their IBOC plans during the exhibits.
