‘Identical Strangers’ Looks at Case of Twins Paula and Elyse

Programmers say this documentary includes the first tape ever aired of Dr. Peter Neubauer describing the experiment.

The latest “Radio Diaries” looks at the unusual case of Paula Bernstein and Elyse Shein.

The identical twins were separated as infants as part of a secret study into nature vs. nurture. They met for the first time at age 35, not knowing why they’d been separated.

Programmers say this documentary includes the first tape ever aired of Dr. Peter Neubauer describing the experiment.

The program aired this week on NPR’s “All Things Considered” and will be available on the program’s Web site.
