iHeartMedia Austin Launches Pride Radio on HD2

Niche marketing aimed at LGBT community

iHeartMedia Austin has launched KASE(HD2)/K248CU, a broadcast extension of the iHeartRadio Pride Radio streaming station.

“Austin has one of the most active LGBT communities in the nation, and 97.5 Pride Radio will fit right in with the community,” said Pride Radio Brand Manager and Senior Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia Don Parker. “Through our iHeartRadio digital platform, Pride Radio forms deep connections with listeners across the country through relatable programming and entertaining news content, and we look forward to creating a new bond between 97.5 Pride Radio and local listeners through Austin’s very own customized version of Pride Radio.”

It began Jan. 12 at 12 p.m. (CT), playing 10,000 songs in a row with no commercial breaks.

The station features programming targeting local LGBT listeners and allies, including dance remixes and pop hits. 97.5 Pride Radio will also feature special mixes, on-air interviews and localized online content.

Programming is also available on the station’s website, iHeartRadio.com and the iHeartRadio app.

iHeartMedia Austin owns and operates KASE, KASE(HD2), KHFI(FM), KPEZ(FM), KVET(FM), KVET(AM) and KVET(HD2) and is part of iHeartMedia.
