iHeartMedia Names Kelly Carls’ Successor in Louisville

Also taps Huelsman to to serve as digital program director in Nashville

Josh Everett has been named the director of Spoken Word Programming for iHeartMedia’s Kentucky-Indiana region. He will be based in Louisville, Ky.

Everett will also oversee programming for WHAS(AM), taking over for WHAS(AM) Program Director Kelly Carls, who will retire in August, who retires after 18 years with iHeartMedia/Clear Channel. “I have had the pleasure of observing Josh Everett’s career from the beginning,” Carls said in the release.

Everett began his career at WHAS(AM) as a board operator. He is also a Louisville native and graduate of the University of Louisville. Everett has also held positions as PD of WLAP(AM) in Lexington, Ky.; PD/news director for WGY(AM) and WOFX(AM) in Albany, NY.; and PD for Denver’s KHOW(AM) and KDSP(AM).

“Josh understands the Spoken Word brands and our listeners’ expectations,” said iHeartMedia Kentucky-Indiana Regional President Earl Jones. “Kelly Carls and his team have built a strong foundation for WHAS(AM) by providing quality news, weather and traffic coverage.”

Additionally, iHeartMedia Nashville has upped Morgan Huelsman (right) to digital program director beginning July 5 in Tennessee.

She will work closely with the programming and sales teams to manage and grow the online and mobile content strategy for WSIX(FM), WNRQ(HD), WUBT(FM), WNRQ(FM), WRVW(FM) and WLAC(AM).

Huelsman previously served as Wichita, Kan., four station cluster’s digital content director. She is a Wichita native and graduate of Kansas State, where she received a BA in journalism and mass communications.
