iHeartMedia Portland Picks New VP of Programming

Wellsandt named PD for WSNX in Grand Rapids

IHeartMedia Portland announced today that Dave Hill has been named vice president of programming. Meanwhile, WSNX(FM) of iHeartMedia West Michigan has chosen Zachary Wellsandt as program director.

As VP of Programming Hill will oversee all programming operations for the nine-station cluster. He will join iHeartMedia Portland from Hearst Broadcasting in Baltimore, where he served as operations manager for four stations since 2002. He also previously served as PD and midday talent for WQBK in Albany, N.Y., and WMRQ in Hartford, Conn.

As PD, Wellsandt will oversee all programming operations for WSNX(FM) in Grand Rapids, Mich. He began his career in Spokane, Wash., originally as a hip-hop DJ for local shows and bars. He later turned to radio, working his way up from a street team intern at KEZE(FM), to recording mix shows and then hosting overnights. In 2008 Wellsandt joined KQMV in Seattle, where he led the station’s mixing, social media and video editing efforts. He also became KQMV’s overnight host and contributed to the morning show. In 2011 he returned to Spokane to program rhythm/CHR station KEZE.

IHeartMedia Portland operates KKRZ(FM/HD), KKCW(FM), KFBW(FM/HD), KLTH(FM), KXJM(FM), KPOJ(AM) and KEX(AM). The West Michigan cluster owns and operates WBCT(FM), WBFX(FM), WOOD(AM), WOOD(FM), WSRW(FM), WSNX, WMAX(FM), WTKG(AM), WMUS(FM), WMRR(FM) and WKBZ(AM).
