IHeartRadio Adds Alpha Media

Does move favor streaming over broadcast?

In a move that looks to favor streaming over broadcast, iHeartMedia has reached a deal with rival station owner Alpha Media that puts Alpha’s stations on iHeartMedia’s iHeartRadio content streaming service.

The individual stations will appear over the next few weeks, a release said.

Alpha Media CEO/President Bob Proffitt said, “We’re excited to join forces with iHeartRadio and expand our digital footprint.”

iHeartMedia Networks Group President Darren Davis explained, “iHeartRadio is the go-to destination for all things audio including live radio streaming and we are excited to provide a major broadcast company like Alpha, a broadcast-friendly platform that will offer their listeners an all-in-one digital experience. We are also always looking for ways to offer even more content and programming options to our hundreds of millions of digital users throughout the country.”

Alpha Media owns or operates 228 stations in 50 markets.
