IHeartRadio Adds Medical Broadcasts

Clear Channel has agreement with ReachMD

You might not be all that interested in hearing about lipids; but medical professionals would be.

As part of Clear Channel’s expanding emphasis on news and talk content on its iHeartRadio digital platform, the company has announced an agreement with ReachMD Radio. The latter calls itself the only 24/7 broadcast of medical education and information designed for healthcare professionals. It cranks out approximately 40 programs — with names like “Diabetes Discourse,” “Lipid Luminations” and “Primary Care Today” — and will be available on iHeartRadio.

The announcement was made by Frank Russomano, CEO of ReachMD, and Brian Lakamp, president of Clear Channel Media and Entertainment Digital.

In the announcement, Lakamp called this “a compelling expansion of our news-talk programs.” The new iHeartRadio Talk feature announced in July gives users access to news, talk and entertainment content on demand. In September the company upgraded the app, promising better navigation, improved menus and the ability to browse by category.

ReachMD Radio, which streams content via its website, also has 6,000 medical podcasts available via its site and iTunes.
