Clear Channel continues to broaden the footprint of its iHeartRadio platform.
The Australian Radio Network will launch iHeartRadio in Australia and New Zealand. That network is a joint venture of APN News & Media and Clear Channel International.
The announcement was made by ARN CEO Ciaran Davis, APN News & Media CEO Brett Chenoweth and Clear Channel Media and Entertainment President of Digital Brian Lakamp.
The service will launch in Australia and New Zealand in 2013. ARN stations will be available on the platform.
ARN is a commercial broadcaster targeting the 25–54 demo in Australia.
Clear Channel positions its service as growing “faster than other popular digital entertainment and social platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Pandora, Spotify and Instagram.” It says it is enjoying 115 million listening hours a month, 50 million monthly digital uniques, 125 million downloads of its mobile apps and million registered users since its re-introduction about a year ago.
