Clear Channel’s digital radio service, iHeartRadio, has added a new feature to its custom stations, offering more convenience and control to the digital listening experience, the company says. The new “add-ins” will enable listeners to insert short local news, weather and traffic updates into their custom stations.
According to a release, iHeartRadio will now offer geo-targeted news and information, enabling users to add local news, traffic and/or weather via regular updates into the listening experience. This feature leverages Clear Channel’s national network, covering 150 markets, the company said.
Add-ins will either automatically pinpoint the listener’s location — or users can set an alternate by entering a ZIP code manually in their account settings.
“With iHeartRadio’s new add-ins feature, listeners can choose to stay connected to their hometown, get easy updates on their work commute and know whether or not they should take an umbrella when they leave the house,” said Brian Lakamp, Clear Channel’s president of digital.
Add-ins is available on iHeartRadio.com and will soon be available for iPhone, Android and other platforms.
