In Charlotte, Radio Gear Is a-Packin

Harrill Hamrick checks in

It didn’t take long for folks in Charlotte to take us up on our challenge!

We had published pix of Mike Irby’s gear as the iHeartMedia team in Denver gets ready to ship it to Santa Clara for the Super Bowl. We added a note asking for Charlotte to show us some radio “dab” moves of its own.

Well Harrill Hamrick found us fast.

“I am already packed. This is gear for Panthers English and Spanish Radio,” he told us.

“This is my second Super Bowl with the Panthers but first as the lead technician. It has been pretty hectic the last few days.”

Hamrick works as technical producer for the Panthers, whose game broadcasts are produced in house. “We have a studio at Bank of America stadium where the games are produced and sent on to the network and our Charlotte flagship WBT.” He and Executive Producer David Langton will travel on the second charter flight to California, which leaves Charlotte on Feb. 5. Jerry Dowd is WBT’s chief engineer; he will head out on the first charter on Jan. 31. “He will be working the shows that air on WBT during the week. We work together on the game broadcasts.”

Ben Blevins is producer/engineer for the Panthers’ Spanish broadcasts.
