Indonesian Radio Journalists Meet

New alliance formed during national broadcasting jamboree

Radio broadcasters from across Indonesia meet in mid March for the first national broadcasting jamboree in Gorontalo on Sulawesi island.

The Jambore Siaran Nasional (Jamsinas) meeting brought together nearly 1,000 broadcasters. It is envisioned that the meeting will be an annual affair, rotating among sites across Indonesia, and helping broadcasters create programming that helps educate and empower listeners.

During the meeting, a new association was formed to promote the interests of radio journalists in Indonesia. The Aliansi Wartawan Radio Indonesia (ALWARRI) alliance will focus on three main areas — journalists’ welfare, the safety of journalists and training — according to Parni Hadi, president director of Radio Republic Indonesia.
