Infinity Moves Further Into Podcasts

Infinity Moves Further Into Podcasts

Infinity under former leader Mel Karmazin was cautious about streaming audio; but no one will accuse it of dragging its feet under Joel Hollander when it comes to exploring podcasting.
The company’s nine all-news stations will offer free daily podcasts to listeners featuring each day’s top local and national news, sports, business and entertainment headlines, as well as weather and traffic, it said.
“Podcasts will vary in length and include news broadcast on the stations and content developed exclusively for download,” it stated. WINS(AM) in New York will start, beginning in July.
Those podcasts are available online. In a related experiment, RW Online reported earlier that last month Infinity launched a podcast-based format over the air on an AM station in San Francisco, KYCY(AM), calling it KYOURADIO. It said it has received about 1,000 podcast submissions.
Hollander called podcasting “a perfect complement to our business model.”
