International Datacasting Reports Q1 Loss

Canadian communications company International Datacasting Corp. registered a drop in revenue and an overall loss for the three months ending April 30. It said that business should improve later in the year.
IDC’s Q1 revenue dropped 37 percent from the same quarter last year, from $4.6 million to $2.9 million, though bookings for the period were $4.6 million. Its net loss decreased, however, from approximately $700,000 to $640,000.
Management blamed a flat economy and expects business to pick up in the third and fourth quarters. The company did tout several highlights, including a multimillion-dollar contract with the Canadian government to provide datacasting services for Canadian armed service members overseas and the sale of Datacast XD Content Distribution software to PBS for digital distribution use.
