iRadio Adds Public Radio Content

Motorola has added content from public radio organizations NPR, PRI and American Public Media to make available to consumers on its iRadio service.
The company says it plans a “full-scale launch” of iRadio early next year. It is in consumer and partner trials in several cities now.
Other iRadio programming includes content from local newspapers and the Associated Press, talk programming, weather and music catalogs of various record labels. Sony BMG plans a channel dedicated to “leaking” albums on iRadio before their official release date, which Motorola calls a first for a mobile service.
Content from public radio includes NPR podcasts such as “Story of the Day,” “NPR Shuffle” and “All Songs Considered”; American Public Media’s “Marketplace,” “The Splendid Table” and “The Writer’s Almanac” with Garrison Keillor; and PRI’s “The World,” “Studio 360” with Kurt Andersen and “Open Source.”
