‘Jack’ Moves to Dial Global

Dial Global reached agreement with SparkNet Communications to offer the Jack-FM format to U.S. stations starting at the end of next month.

Dial Global reached agreement with SparkNet Communications to offer the Jack-FM format to U.S. stations starting at the end of next month.

“All current affiliates of ABC Radio Networks’ version of Jack-FM will be transitioned to Dial Global Digital 24/7 Formats on that date, with no disruption of service,” the companies said. “With SparkNet’s consultation, Dial Global will combine the unique mix of adult hit music, with key imaging elements of the Jack-FM brand, including the voice of Howard Cogan.”

The first Jack-FM station launched in Vancouver in 2002. The company describes the original idea as “a 1,200-song library spanning four decades, packaged with a playful and campy attitude.” Pat Bohn and Garry Wall soon agreed to license the brand in America and formed SparkNet Communications; the first U.S. affiliate was in Denver in 2004.

The companies said operational questions about the transition and information about affiliation should be e-mailed to Matt Caldaronello of Dial Global at mcaldaronello@dial-global.com.
