SRS Labs said a Japanese TV station has produced a live broadcast using the SRS Circle Surround 5.1 technology.
Mainichi Broadcasting System aired a baseball game from Koshien Stadium in Japan via 28 stations of the Tokyo Broadcasting System. A logo was displayed on screen informing viewers that they were seeing a game with SRS Circle Surround.
The supplier is one that also has taken a higher profile here, as the U.S. radio industry considers whether and how to implement surround via digital radio.
The company says more than 500 million television viewers have experienced
Circle Surround, and more than 300,000 DVDs and CDs include it.
