Jay-Z Slated to Perform at iHeartRadio Festival

Recording biggie will close the festival’s opening night

Jay-Z, rap superstar and self-proclaimed “king of this thing,” has been announced as the newest addition to the iHeartRadio Music Festival, taking place in September at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Clear Channel created the festival in hopes of creating big buzz for the relaunch of the iHeartRadio website, which will include more “personalized content” options and more emphasis on mobile outlets.

Known under many pseudonyms, the man born Shawn Carter is a multiple Grammy winner with 50 million albums sold, surpassing Elvis in 2009 as the solo artist with the most #1 albums.

His body of work encompasses collaborations with musicians outside the genre of rap including Coldplay, Rascal Flatts and Linkin Park. Carter is CEO and co-founder of Rocawear apparel and a former CEO of seminal hip hop label Def Jam Recordings.

Jay-Z is scheduled to perform at the closing of the festival’s opening night, Sept. 23.
