Premiere Radio Networks says John Boy and Billy, syndicated hosts of “The Big Show,” have raised more than $550,000 over the years in support of Operation USO Care Package.
The latter program helps the public support Americans in uniform. Fundraising efforts for this year have totaled $88,900.
By visiting www.thebigshow.com, supporters can make a $25 donation to the USO, which allows them to sponsor a care package full of personal, requested supplies that will be delivered to deployed service men and women, such as prepaid international calling cards, toiletries, sunscreen and refreshments.
USO care package donors also are encouraged to include a personal note to the recipient, though due to heightened security, individuals can no longer send letters and packages to “Any Service Member.”
John Boy and Billy teamed with the USO in 2003 and have increased donations each year by inviting soldiers, veterans and USO representatives as guests of their show to spread the word about the USO’s work.
