Three radio stations from the newly-formed Journal Broadcast Group’s Wichita, Kan., cluster, KFDI(FM), KICT(FM) and KYQQ(FM), are working with local car dealer, the Davis-Moore Auto Group, to encourage drivers to not text while driving. In that six-week campaign and contest they are giving out thumb bands as reminders to keep the thumbs off the smartphone and on the wheel. Journal Broadcast Group Operations Manager Justin Case said, “Distracted driving causes many unnecessary injuries and deaths. These accidents are preventable. Our hope is not only to raise awareness but to change behavior with simple and clear messaging: phones down, thumbs up.”
