Alternative music just ain’t what it used to be. That’s the assumption behind the latest offering from Jones Radio Networks, called “Classic Alternative.”
The company says it promises to “pay tribute to the foundations of the alternative music format, targeting the original fans of alternative from the ’80s and early ’90s.”
“With our new music format, stations can now effectively target a large pool of listeners mostly unsatisfied with today’s current alternative offerings,” said a JRN official. Steve Young will program the format; in a statement, he said today’s alternative formats have leaned too much toward hard-rock for some fans’ tastes.
