Jones Radio Expands Linear and File-Based Networks

The company placed a “large order” with Wegener Corp.

Jones Radio Networks is expanding its linear and file-based radio networks.

The company placed a “large order” with Wegener Corp. for iPump 6420 professional media servers and Unity 4600 professional media receivers.

Wegener did not announce the value or exact size of the order but a spokeswoman told Radio World it was for several hundred receivers.

“The new purchase will augment the Jones Digital Audio Server (JDAS) delivery technology platform which was supplied by Wegener and launched in January 2007,” the manufacturer said.

The JDAS system distributes radio content to its network of 2,000 radio stations, “and the purchase represents growth of the network,” the company continued.

Eric Wiler is VP of technology for Jones Radio Networks. He talked with Radio World this winter about his company’s relationship with Wegener.
