Journal Broadcast Group Promotes Langmyer

He will be VP/GM of Milwaukee radio operations

Tom Langmyer has been named vice president and general manager of Journal Broadcast Group’s Milwaukee Radio Operations. The announcement was made by Executive Vice President of Radio Steve Wexler, who was recently named to his current role and is stepping away from his general manager role to focus on Journal’s 35-station radio division.

In his new role, starting Feb. 3, Langmyer will be responsible for the overall operations of WTMJ(AM) and WLWK(FM), as well as Journal’s radio sports play-by-play business in the same city. He will also continue to support the company’s spoken word stations as vice president of news/talk programming.

Langmyer joined Journal as vice president of news/talk programming in August, 2013. Previously, he served vice president and general manager of Tribune’s WGN(AM) in Chicago since 2005. Before that, he was vice president and general manager of CBS Radio’s KMOX(AM) in St. Louis and served as vice president of news/talk programming for CBS Radio. He joined CBS as program director of KMOX in 1992.

In the past, he also provided consulting services radio stations throughout the United States in a variety of news, talk and music formats as president of The Blue Water Group.

Langmyer began his broadcast career at WBEN(AM) and WGR(AM) in Buffalo, N.Y.
