Fly jock Tom Joyner is switching stations in the Washington, D.C. market and adding 9 more to his affiliate roster.
Radio One, Inc. has inked an agreement with ABC Radio Networks to carry the “Tom Joyner Morning Show” on Radio One’s flagship station, WMMJ(FM) beginning Aug. 28.
The “Tom Joyner Morning Show” is the number one rated urban morning show in the Washington, D.C. area, according to Radio One. The show will move from Howard University’s WHUR-FM.
Radio One will also broadcast the “Tom Joyner Morning Show” to 9 additional markets, including those that the company will enter after the Clear Channel spin-offs close, according to Radio One CFO Scott Royster.
“The addition of Tom Joyner to an already strong radio station should greatly enhance the ratings on WMMJ and will give Radio One, along with our Russ Parr Morning Show on WKYS, one of the most powerful one-two morning show punches of any radio market in the country,” said Alfred C. Liggins II, Radio One president/CEO.
