JRN Appoints One of Its Own

Jones Radio Networks promoted a veteran staff member, Jon Holiday, to the position of senior director of programming/contemporary formats/promotions. His former title was director of contemporary programming.
Holiday has played an integral role in JRN's 24-Hour format programming for more than a decade. Before joining JRN, he worked at Gannett's W101(FM) in Tampa, Fla., and also served as the program director of Hot AC WXLO(FM) in Worcester, Mass.


Commentary: APT Has Its Own Take on Surround

In recent years, 5.1 surround sound has become the accepted mode for audio in the film, television and music industries, as opposed to the simple, two-channel stereo approach. Consumer demand has largely driven this increase in audio channels, with most households now owning a DVD player complete with a 5.1 speaker configuration.
