Kagan: Satellite Radio Subs to Top 46 Million by 2014

Kagan Research predicts that by 2014, satellite radio will have 46 million subscribers between XM and Sirius Satellite Radio, generating nearly $7.6 billion in revenue.
“Demand for satellite radio service remains strong, customer satisfaction is high and churn has been low,” states Kagan in its report, which claims to include the first in-depth analysis of the industry’s future ad revenues.
A “high-barrier assures limited future competition for XM and Sirius,” believes Kagan, although the researcher acknowledges alternative technologies could compete with the satcasters and “the appeal of local radio cannot be counted out.”
