KARF Increases Power

Bott Radio Network expands FM coverage in southeast Kansas and northeast Oklahoma

KARF(FM) recently increased its power to 100 kW ERP, almost four times its earlier level of 28 kW.

The Bott Radio Network station serves southeast Kansas and northeast Oklahoma at 91.5 MHz. It is licensed to Independence, Kan.

Eben Fowler is director of operations at BRN; John Beck is network development manager. The station worked with technical consultants Markley & Associates.

Beck told Radio World the noncom station is using a new Broadcast Electronics FM-25T transmitter and four-bay ERI directional antenna.

The company said the “much stronger signal” will add listeners to its coverage area “from Independence and Coffeyville, Kansas, to Chanute, Kansas to Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and everywhere in between.”

The Christian radio group has 18 other stations in Kansas and has its headquarters in Kansas City. It was founded in 1962.
