Mark Rosenthal, CEO of Katz Radio Group, has taken on the additional responsibility of CEO of Katz Media Group. He will now also oversee Katz Television Group, the television representation company.
In his new role, Rosenthal will remain focused on building the radio sector, working with Katz Radio Group President Mark Gray to drive additional media dollars into radio. He will now also work with KTG Presidents Leo MacCourtney and Craig Broitman to grow and further develop KTG’s assets, advocacy and revenue-generating efforts, a release said.
“My goal is to grow and develop the company’s assets to continue to provide Katz clients with a one-of-a-kind media partner,” said Rosenthal.
For nearly a decade Rosenthal served as the president and chief operating officer of Viacom’s MTV Networks. Following his tenure at MTV, he served as the chairman and CEO of Interpublic Media, part of the Interpublic Group, one of the world’s leading organizations of advertising agencies and marketing service companies. Rosenthal then joined Spot Runner, where he was vice chairman and president of media platforms. In 2009, Current Media, founded by Al Gore, selected Rosenthal to become chief executive officer of the cable news network and online destination. During his tenure Current Media was the recipient of two Emmy Awards and the George Foster Peabody Award.
He previously served on the board of Current Media, as well as CNET Networks, before the company’s sale to the CBS Corp.
Rosenthal will continue to be based in New York and report to Rich Bressler, president and chief financial officer of Clear Channel Communications.
Katz Media Group is a full-service media sales and marketing firm and a subsidiary of Clear Channel Communications.
