Kaufman, From Hotel Industry, Is Now Clear Channel Revenue Czar

For Hogan, a new team of revenue managers is about 'maximizing revenue from the radio industry's advertising inventory'

When revenue is down and expenses are not, you need new revenue management. That seems to be the takeaway for Clear Channel Radio, which this week, despite recent cuts in other areas of the company, created a new position called senior VP of revenue management, named John Kaufman to the job and said he’d hire up to 40 people.

He will be “responsible for increasing the company’s key capability for revenue management.” In making the announcement, radio President/CEO John Hogan said Kaufman “understands the importance of intelligent optimization of inventory, and the need to offer attractive pricing to current and future customers.”

Kaufman was EVP of revenue management and electronic Marketing at Extended Stay Hotels; he is also a former VP at Starwood Hotels and Resorts and has worked at Priceline.com and American Airlines.
