Kenwood to Demonstrate Connectivity, Integration

Compatibility with smartphone platforms and phone-free in-car Internet lead product showcase

Kenwood says it plans more than 40 product introductions in 2015. In its booth at International CES, many of its product offerings “push connectivity to new levels,” according to the manufacturer.

“The number of new products, and even more important, the proliferation of new technology throughout our product line, will help us to deliver the quality and consumer use experience our customers demand,” says Kenwood Marketing Manager Tony Mercado.

The aftermarket radio manufacturer is displaying a new multimedia receiver that includes both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in a single unit. The connected receiver seamlessly integrates onboard, device-resident and broadband media.

Also on display are single-DIN, full-screen multimedia receivers to fit older vehicles and specialized applications.

In addition, Kenwood will demonstrate integration of aptX codec technology with Bluetooth resulting in what the manufacturer says are higher-fidelity phone calls; direct-connect control of Android-based smartphones from select CD and multimedia receivers; and the new Extra EQ function which Kenwood says provides a better in-car audio experience.
