KFI Tower Crashes

KFI Tower Crashes

KFI(AM) in Los Angeles was off the air for about an hour yesterday when a small plane crashed into its 750-foot tower, knocking the structure down. An FAA official told the Associated Press the crash killed two people in the plane and caused a small fire that was put out by firefighters.
A Los Angeles broadcast engineer stated the tower came down in folded pieces and landed completely within the station’s parking lot. Various sources said the station was off the air for about an hour. It’s back on now at 5 kW using its auxiliary tower.
