From the Radio World Who’s Buying What page: Christian Broadcasting Inc. in Anchorage, Alaska, threw the switch on a new Class A station in Palmer in August. It used a Crown FM500T, Jampro JLST-1 antenna, Burk ARC-16SA remote control and Andrew transmission line. The station initially will rebroadcast programming of KATB with a plan to convert to original programming in 2006.
Walt Lowery of RF Specialties of Washington handled the equipment sale for the new KJLP(FM), which uses the slogan “Jesus Loves Palmer.”
The general manager is Tom Steigleman. The organization had been serving the community with a translator on 88.3 and will continue to do so. It said KJLP at 88.9 gives it a permanent presence and increased coverage area into surrounding communities.
“Initially we will rebroadcast the programming heard on Anchorage station KATB 89.3 with the long-term goal of establishing a separate format for KJLP 88.9,” the GM said in a statement.
Steigleman also manages KATB, its three translators, KAFC(FM) and a television operation.
