The chairman of an important antitrust panel urged the FCC and Justice Department to say no to the merger of Sirius and XM, Marketwatch reported.
Sen. Herb Kohl, D-Wis., is chairman of the Antitrust, Competition Policy and Consumer Rights Subcommittee, part of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Kohl wrote to regulators that the merger “would cause substantial harm to competition and consumers, would be contrary to antitrust law and not in the public interest,” according to Marketwatch.
Satellite radio is a separate market from the wider audio entertainment market, he wrote.
