Korn Resigns from RFE/RL

Effective Jan. 25, president and CEO to leave

Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty President and CEO Steven Korn is resigning from the international broadcaster.

The Broadcast Board of Governors has accepted his resignation, effective on Jan. 25.

Korn was appointed to the post in June of 2011. He had previously worked at Turner Broadcasting Systems, including a stint as vice chairman and COO of CNN.

In a release announcing the resignation, Michael Lynton, presiding governor of the Broadcasting Board of Governors said, “We appreciate the passion and energy Steve devoted to RFE/RL through a difficult time of change in the global media landscape, including strengthening its presence on digital platforms.”

Lynton noted that Korn had been instrumental in negotiating a new lease for RFE/RL’s Prague headquarters and establishing a “Journalists in Trouble fund.”

The search for a replacement has begun according to the release
