KUT Radio Celebrates 50 Years

The FCC assigned the calls to the station on Aug. 21, 1958.

Non-commercial KUT(FM), Austin, Texas, is 50.

The station is broadcasting an analog and HD Radio signals, as well as streaming over the Internet, podcasting and transmitting its signal to mobile devices. The station airs music programs as well as public radio news programming on its main channel, with public radio news and information on the HD2 channel and jazz on HD3.

The University of Texas licensee says KUT News is the largest public radio news operation in the state.
